JACOB is thinking about buying a car that gets over-the-air (OTA) updates from the manufacturer. The dealer is presenting this as a "benefit" but JACOB is not so sure about it. What do you think?

I am NOT a fan of OTA updates for vehicles. It encourages manufacturers to behave more like software developers than car makers, releasing "half-baked" code and features. They know that any issues can be fixed later with an OTA update, so why bother doing thorough testing beforehand?

However, if you decide to buy one of these cars then you MUST enable the updates. Many of them will be related to safety, security, and/or stability. Good luck!
