How to Opt Out of Amazon Sidewalk
What is Amazon Sidewalk? Credit goes to Dan Goodin of Ars Technica for this well-written article.
"On June 8, (Amazon) will automatically enroll the devices in Amazon Sidewalk. The new wireless mesh service will share a small slice of your Internet bandwidth with neighboring Sidewalk-capable devices that don't have connectivity. Sidewalk will also help your Amazon devices to a sliver of bandwidth from other Sidewalk users when you don't have a connection."
This Internet connection "sharing" is TURNED ON by default for owners of Alexa, Echo, or other Amazon device owners. You have to opt out in order to turn it off. If you do not already have the Amazon Alexa app, then you will need to install it from your app store first.
Open the Amazon Alexa app.
Tap More.
Tap Settings.
Tap Account Settings.
Tap Amazon Sidewalk.
Next to Enabled, tap the switch to toggle it off.
Amazon Sidewalk is now disabled. Click HERE to view a YouTube video that walks you through it step-by-step.
