Let's start with a follow-up from last week's edition of From the Mailbag . . .

CHRIS wanted to know if he needs to run antivirus on his Mac. I said yes and was surprised to hear that many of you are already doing that and have been for years! Good job on that. Those of you who argued that antivirus is not necessary on the Mac should read this article.

According to Apple's Senior VP of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi: "Today, we have a level of malware on the Mac that we don't find acceptable." There you have it straight from the horse's mouth. Once again, I recommend ESET Cyber Security for the Mac.

MORGAN asked if the software in the Internet Archive is safe to download.

From the Internet Archive ABOUT page . . .

"The Internet Archive, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is building a digital library of Internet sites and other cultural artifacts in digital form. Like a paper library, we provide free access to researchers, historians, scholars, the print disabled, and the general public. Our mission is to provide Universal Access to All Knowledge."

The software archived there should be safe in the sense that it is most likely virus and malware free. However, depending on how old it is you may have problems getting the software to run on Windows 10.

Ed Bott of ZDNet has you covered with this article. In short, you can get a free upgrade if you have an old product key from Windows 7 Pro, Windows 7 Ultimate, or Windows 8/8.1 Pro. Otherwise, you will have to pay the $99 upgrade fee.

VALERY wants to know if Kaspersky Internet Security is any good.

Yes, Kaspersky is very good. Looking at the latest antivirus roundups, AV Comparatives gave it the Advanced+ rating (April 2021) and AV Test gave it the Top Product rating (February 2021).
